Default Humphrey Goes Home

Humphrey's mom showed up a day earlier than we expected this afternoon
to collect her dog. It was the first thing she did after dropping her
luggage at home, and I can certainly relate to that!

He was kind of surprised to see her--David thinks that Humphrey maybe
thought he was here for good, since it had been so long--but happy as
well. She asked if he was any trouble, and couldn't believe he hadn't
been. "Are you sure?" she kept asking. David said no, he'd fit right
into the household and even learned to sit in the elevator. "No!" said
his mom. David looked at Humphrey and said "Sit, Humphrey," and
Humphrey plopped right down and looked pleased with himself.

I was in the shower while all this happened, so I didn't get to say
goodbye to Humphrey. We had stored a couple of things in his mom's
apartment while we had company on Christmas, so I stopped by to pick
them up after dinner. Humphrey was really glad to see me, he kept
rubbing his head against my pants and circling me wagging his whole rear
end.

I said he could stay here anytime he needed to, and she still couldn't
believe he hadn't been any trouble. Apparently he's a lot more anxious
and gets into more stuff for other people than he did for us.

Fidget already misses him, but it's not like they'll never see each
other again. He did so well with Humphrey around that I don't think
he'll have any problems adjusting to a second dog again, when we're
ready.
