Afraid of being leashed?
The rescue I volunteer with just got in a huge, 85-lb, 10-12 month old dog
that looks like a German Shepherd-Collie cross. Beautiful animal. He comes, sits, shakes hands and downs. Doesn't heel off leash, unfortunately. We're calling him "Prince." Prince is a sweetheart, a tiny bit shy but very affectionate. We're still in the waiting period where we try to determine if somebody lost him. He was, obviously, owned at some point in time, and well-fed when he came in to us. You can put a collar on him. You can attach a leash. Put ANY pull on that leash, though, and he bites it and fights it and spins and yelps and throws himself around and, finally, lies flat on the ground and won't move. I've carefully inspected his neck for sore spots, injuries; nothing. He appears healthy as a horse (and nearly the size of one grin). This seems an extreme reaction. Puppies sometimes fight the leash, but settle down real quick. He hasn't. Thoughts on why? flick 100785 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
