Default Two part testimonial regarding timid dogs and ecollars

The following is a two-part testimonial. This first letter was dated Dec.
26th, 2003 and was sent to Fred Hassen by Amy McCabe about some issues that she
was having with her dog. Fred Hassen advised her to come to the seminar, and
everything would be much, much better.

Fred:
I have a VERY fearful, nearly 3 year old cocker spaniel (male-neutered) that I
have had since he was 6 months old. Traveling with him would be a nightmare.
He is likely to defecate and or urinate in his crate and he does not do well on
a leash. Medications and "traditional" training methods have not proven very
successful with him. However, I'm willing to give it a try if you feel he is
an appropriate candidate for your training seminar next weekend. To be
perfectly honest with you, I am a huge skeptic and I'm planning to attend to
prove to myself that how I feel is correct. Of course, I am not ignorant. If
this were to work on this "lost cause" dog, a dog that has made minimal
progress
in my own home with 8 other well-adjusted dogs, I could become an instant
believer and one of your biggest advocates.
Please tell me, honestly, would torturing myself to bring him be a good idea?
If so, would it be possible for you to work with him at your demo session on
Friday afternoon so that if he does not respond well I could take him home and
then return for the remainder of the seminar on my own.
I will follow whatever suggestions you have for me.
Thanks for your time.

----------------------------------------------------------

This second letter was sent on Jan. 6, 2004 and was sent after Amy McCabe had
gone to the seminar.

I attended Fred's seminar in Jupiter, Florida - January 2004. I am a trainer
and I use mostly positive methods so I was very skeptical about using an
e-collar. I brought one of my own dogs, "Beanie", a beautiful blonde cocker
spaniel (3 year old male-neutered) that I have had since he was 6 months old.
Since the day I rescued him, he has been one of the most fearful dogs I had
ever seen. He has made minimal progress in my own home among several happy
dogs despite the use of all kinds of traditional training methods, medications,
and even a pet psychic! On several occasions he had bitten my husband who has
been nothing but kind and patient with him. Realizing that we could not go on
this way forever, I took him to the seminar as a "last resort".
Despite my discomfort with using the collar, I cannot deny the changes in my
dog. He seems to be much more confident. His body posture, normally as low to
the ground as possible, has come up significantly. He is interested in his
surroundings, not because he is afraid of them, but because now he seems to
want to know what he has been missing! (The little adventurer even took off
during a free period at the seminar and hopped into a pond for a swim... he has
never swam before and he was feeling bold enough to just go for it!) After two
years of always having to run after him since he would not come to me, he now
comes when I call (happily) and he comes around me constantly to check out what
I am doing. Getting him out of his crate used to be a battle, now you bend
down in front of it, call him, and he pops right out..... it is really
encouraging. He has a long way to go, but I must admit that he has shown more
visible progress in last 96 hours than in the previous two years. I am looking
forward to watching him change and grow as I continue to use the methods that
Fred taught us over the weekend. I cannot explain how or why it works, but I
cannot deny that it does!
