Default what should i tell this barking dog?

every night i run down the street
every night this little black dog barks it head off as i run by
as a matter of fact every time anyone goes by it barks its head off

it comes out on a deck from the dining room thru an open door
and then goes back inside

i am considering the next time i go by, to tell it something like...
"shut the f^#k up!"

do you think it would?

do you think the owner would say
"don't use such abusive language!"

to which i could say
"i surely would not if you would control your f*#%ing dog"

what do you think?

Try "Hi Doggie! Its ok, I am not scary" in a cheery voice first.

If that doesnt' work, next time try

"DOGGIE, No Barking. Bad Doggie" in a deep but calm voice.

I doubt doggie knows what "shut the **** up means"

Why not try talking to the owner? If the dog is bothering you, communicating
with him isn't going to do much good. Communicating with the owner, however,
holds forth the possibility of reconciling the problem, since he's a human
being (ostensibly).

I'd much rather a neighbor voiced his displeasure about my dog barking to me
rather than tormenting my dog, who wouldn't understand, but might instead
increase the negative behavior.

Don't waste your breath, the dog isn't going to listen to your "shut up" but
it may alert the owner that the dog is bothering people. The owner needs to
work with the dog *every time* someone comes by, you cannot do anything on
your own--in fact you may make the problem worse by saying anything to it.
