Default Dog Food

Thought I'd post this here instead of rpd.health since the food threads
always seem to degenerate into shouting matches over there. Based on
the information Melanie had given me, I finally placed an order with The
Honest Kitchen (www.thehonestkitchen.com), and bought a twin pack - both
Verve and Force. The original plan was to use them as one raw meal with
one kibble meal in the morning, but now I think that I'll just use it to
supplement the kibble meals. The ordering process was easy, they
shipped it the next day, and the order got to me today (8 days later,
but they shipped from CA) Although it was well packaged, one of the
containers had broken where the handle had rested. I thought I'd try
the Verve out on the dogs. Although neither are horribly picky eaters,
they aren't really food hounds either (unless someone brings pupperoni
to the dog park, in which case they'll do anything for a bite).

I liked the way the Verve smelled. Like veggies or herbs. But, it has
lots of grain/veggie ingredients in it, which probably accounts for
that. Khan was quite impressed, and gobbled down what I put in front of
him. Pan was less impressed. She gave it a couple of licks, gave me
that 'what're trying to do, poison me?' look, and walked off. Khan was
only too happy to attempt to finish off her food, but the big meanie
that I am, I didn't let him. So far, one paw up, one paw down. I think
they'll both like Force. More meat might make a difference.
